House Keeping / Methods and Methodologies(Study of Method)
Methodologies - Analysing the methods applied to a field of study
The notion of my practice - Thinking about why? Define my words
How you do your design process(not technique) -> Just application of technique later
New combination of old elements
1) Gather raw materials(curiosity, not specific) -> openly
2) Digest the material(play, think)
3) Unconscious Processing(don't think)
4) The 'A-ha' moment(appearance of idea)
5) Idea meets reality(test quality, don't be precious)
Methodology -> which would be most appropriate.
-> why are you using a particular method in your work?
-> can be design be better by this method?
Intuitive
Drawing research: make idea more effective visualization(do not concern about quality of drawing)
Justify your drawing is your best way of research
You don't make movie, movie makes you => Allow yourself to be changed, Allow your practice change you
In order to criticize a movie, you have to make another movie.
=> Practice can be reflective, happen after event => Just make a practice and the response.
You need to finding a way to show your practice (How to map your work process)
Research Question -> Answerable inquiry into something specific. Methodology is crucial part of credibility
Iteration
Iteration is doing something repeatedly with the goal of reaching an aim => feedback loop
Eureka moment -> ex) Velcro: Opposite of iteration (Can use both?)
Drawing: Drawing a wire, Pulling information out of source material or your head
Creativity
: Question habitual/routine ways of working, Consider different approaches. Own your Practice
Why do you work the way you do?
<Just make stuff but think about the process>
Risk/Experiment
-> How to ensure your being experimental
<Recognise threshold/boundaries that define you or that you>
Methodology gives (academic) credibility to your inquiry
MA의 목적, 기대치를 걱정하기보다 작품과 흥미가 있는 것에 집중할 것. 그리고 그것들을 끝까지 연구할 것.
